Roland Turner

Roland (Roly) Turner is a lifelong resident of Thunder Bay, Ontario.  He has been active since 1965 in the building industry. From 1979 to 2000 he was an owner and president of two plumbing and heating firms.  He served in various capacities with the Mechanical Contractors Associations of Thunder Bay, Ontario and Canada particularly in Joint Management - Labour issues and in liaisons and partnerships with a number of government and civic agencies.  Following his business career Roly moved to the public sector, employed with Lakehead Public Schools as Property Services Master Plumber.  He recently received a Trustees Recognition Award for his service to Rotary.  He plans to retire in May 2010. Roly has also been active on a number of community boards in Thunder Bay including a charitable foundation awarding post secondary scholarships and humanitarian grants and a not for profit agency providing services for youth in conflict with the law.  His other interests include downhill skiing, boating, travel, yard-work and dog walking. 
As a member and Past President of the Thunder Bay (Port Arthur) club since 1982 he has served in all four Avenues of Service.  He was Rotarian of the Year (1993/94) and is a multiple and sustaining Paul Harris Fellow.  Roly has  been active in District 5580 affairs for many years serving as District member to the Canadian Rotary Collaboration for International Service, District Grants Subcommittee Chair, Assistant Governor and member of the Executive Finance and Strategic Planning Committees.  He was District Rotarian of the Year for International Service (2003/04) and received The Rotary Foundation Citation for Meritorious Service and the District Service Award in 2006. 
Judi was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario.  She moved to Thunder Bay to pursue a career as a Registered Nurse.  After retiring she joined Port Arthur Rotary in 2003.  She has been active in several areas of service including club secretary.  Her other interests include travel, photography, reading, writing and mastering the computer.
Roland and Judi were drawn to the Amazon rainforest in 1993 to volunteer in the construction of “La Clinica Yanamono”.  Since that time they have worked as a “team” to help identify, plan and complete a number of Humanitarian projects in Peru and Guatemala and have travelled to work on those sites on at least nine occasions.
Roly & Judi have been married for over 40 years and are very proud of their two daughters and sons-in-law who have blessed them with 3 wonderful grandsons.

C. Roger Carrell

 

Roger has been a member of the Omaha Suburban Rotary Club for 22 years.  He served as President for Suburban Rotary in 2003-2004 as well as Sergeant at Arms and on the Board of Directors.  He remains active on the Salvation Army Committee, and continues to serve as Co-Chair.  Roger is also active in his Club’s Community Service projects.
For District 5650, Roger was Assistant District Governor for 2 years and also served as Membership Chairman.  He has attended 12 International Conventions and has received the Four Avenues of Service Citation.
Roger has been married to Peggy for 40 years.  They are both Paul Harris Fellows.  They have 3 sons; Chris, Jon and Jeremy, all married and have blessed Roger and Peggy with 8+ grandchildren.  All three sons are Paul Harris Sustaining Members.  Jon and Jeremy joined Roger and Peggy in the family business of Carrell & Associates Surveying.  Chris is Project Manager for Staubach Co. in Phoenix, Az.
Roger is a Registered Land Surveyor in 5 states and has been involved in surveying for 44 years.  He has served two terms as President for the Professional Surveyors of Nebraska and as a Representative to the American Cosincengress of Surveying and Mapping.
Peggy, also a Rotarian, has been Executive Director for three Rotary clubs in Omaha for 25 years.  She enjoys bridge and quilting.  Roger enjoys golfing, bowling and bridge.  Both Roger and Peggy are avid Nebraska football fans.

Description of Professional/Educational/Military/Service Career:
His career started in 1966 when he joined VISTA and served as a volunteer in Southern Appalachia. In 1968-69, he was in Botswana, Africa developing a youth program called 4-B (patterned after the U.S. 4-H program). He returned to the University of Minnesota in 1970 and completed his Bachelor of Science degree. He was drafted into the U.S. Army and served as a pharmacist for two year. His sterling career with the U of M Extension Service began in 1972, serving as a 4-H program coordinator and eventually, he moved into consumer horticulture. Zilliox received his Master's Degree in Education in 1985. During his long career, he has taken his horticulture experience to the media, writing weekly news columns, doing a weekly radio show and broadcasting television topics monthly. His two principal hobbies are traveling and fishing.

Craig Leiser

Craig is a Past President of Stillwater Sunrise Rotary Club in Stillwater, MN. I have served as Club International Chair, District 5960 Fast for Hope (member and chair), District WCS & DSG Committee as mentor for Africa, Fast for Hope Nicaragua committee member, inbound GSE Brazil chair for 2008, District Water Resources Committee Chair, 2008 GSE Team outbound selection and 2006 Ambassadorial Fellow selection committee. I have met many Rotarians and visited your clubs over the past three years in the presentation of the Fast for Hope/Haiti Safe Water project. I have attended Rotary meetings in Australia, Norway, Denmark and Hawaii besides many clubs in our district.
I am married to Nina Leiser and have been for 44 years. We have 3 adult, married children and 4 grandchildren from 12 months to 4 ½ years in age. We have also hosted 8 international exchange students from both Rotary and AFS programs and claim an additional 5 grandchildren by designation as we remain good friends and return hosts to our international students and their families. As a family we enjoy fishing, golf, gardening, travel, card playing and reading. We have visited Australia, Norway, Denmark, England, Ireland, Scotland, Chile, Mexico, and Canada with friends and family as well as making new friends in each destination.
I was born in Cochrane, WI., population 495, went to grammar school in Chicago, IL, high school in Seattle, WA, the University of Washington in Seattle for a BSc. Degree in Ceramic Engineering and the New York State College of Ceramics and Ceramic Engineering at Alfred, NY for an MSc. Degree. I have worked for GE, Owens Illinois Glass, 3M, National Guardian Security Services Corp., Ameritech and for the past 11 years have owned my own one person consulting business, Kismet Group, Ltd. In addition to Rotary I am a member and president of the Brown’s Creek Watershed District in Minnesota and have been a member of numerous Washington County and State of Minnesota water management or resource committees and study groups.
I look forward with eager anticipation to learn more about Rotary, its’ programs and activities. I welcome the opportunity to serve you as Rotarians and the clubs you belong to in the spirit of leaders past, present and future. I plan on making many more friends and getting very involved in developing challenging and rewarding individual, club, district and international projects and programs. Along the way I hope to meet each Rotarian in our district and share thoughts, ideas and plans about what we can do to make our world better.

Roger Kueter

As past president of The Cedar Falls Club, Roger is the long-time District’s Chair of the Ambassadorial Scholarship Committee. He has recently been appointed Chair of the District’s Gates’ Polio Match efforts. By profession, Roger is professor and director of community college projects at The University of Northern Iowa (UNI). Before moving into this role he was Department Head of Teaching and Director of the Office of Student Field Experiences for many years. His particular interests are in preparing pre service educators. In recent years he has provided leadership and instruction in the delivery of UNI programs to location-bound and career-changing Iowans. The key to the success of the programs has been the participation of university faculty and partnerships with Iowa Community Colleges in the delivery of programs via distant format. He has been instrumental in preparing and directing a series of Federal grants to make these programs a reality for Iowans.
Kueter earned his degrees from Loras College, Dubuque, Iowa, and Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana. Dr. Kueter joined the faculty of the University of Northern Iowa in 1970. In addition to his University responsibilities, Roger Kueter is a member of the Cedar Falls Utilities Board of Trustees, a member of American Martyrs Retreat House Board, and long-time Knight of Columbus. Roger Kueter is a community leader in fund raising doing benefit auctions, where he has assisted with raising millions of dollars over the years for Columbus Central Catholic High School, Rotary, Hospice, Hartman Nature Reserve, West High School Foundation, Sartori Hospital Festival of Trees, Oster Community Theatre, Cancer Society, United Way and many other organizations.
Roger and his wife Barbara have been married for 43 years. Barb retired from a career also at The University of Northern Iowa where she was employed by the Graduate College as dissertation and thesis reviewer. Her hobbies include gardening, reading, and volunteering at church and in the community. She is also active in several community-based organizations.
The Kueters are parents of three adult children, all of whom are married and live in Iowa. Kelly is Director, Office of Business Operations at The University of Northern Iowa; Dan is CEO, United Healthcare, Iowa and Central Illinois; and Sarah is the Clinical Pharmacist in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at The University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics. The Kueters are proud grandparents of nine grandchildren, six boys and three girls.

Gary Welch


Gary Welch is a native Iowan born in Clarinda, Iowa and grew up on a farm just outside of Braddyville, Iowa. He is currently serving his third term on the Ankeny City Council and is Mayor Pro Temp. He has been involved with the Ankeny Chamber of Commerce, YMCA Board, 24hr Relay Challenge, Leadership Institute, Citizen's Police Academy and numerous other boards and committees over the years. He is founding chair of the Neveln Community Resource Center which provides service to over 11,000 people a year.
Gary currently serves on the Metro Waste Authority Board, Des Moines Area Metropolitan Planning Organization, Community Education Advisory Board and the Mayor's Youth Council. 
Gary received a Masters of Social Work degree from the University of Nebraska and is a Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW). He retired as a School Social Worker from Heartland AEA-11 in 2006 to go into private practice and to continue his volunteer work. He worked as a School Social Worker, a Family Therapist and Psychiatric Social Worker over 40 years.
He has received numerous awards including "Ankeny Citizen of the Year," "Governor's Leadership Award," "Friend of Community Education," listed in "Who's Who for Human Service Professionals," and published journal and newspaper articles.  He is past president of the Ankeny Rotary Club, District Club Service Chair, District Conference Committee, District Public Relations and EREY committee. He is currently serves as Assistant District Governor and was recently elected as the District Governor for 2010-11. In District 6000, he is currently serving on the following district committees: World Service, Youth Exchange, Community Service, Public Relations, Training, Extension, Conference, EREY, and ex-official on the Executive Leadership, Budget and Finance.
Gary has worked in construction, as a house painter, did roofing and landscaping as a young man. He enjoys outdoor activities such as biking, hiking, sports, camping, wood working and most of all playing with his grandchildren. He has a Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do.
Gary has been an Ankeny resident for over 30 years. His wife, Colleen of 40 years works at Orchard Place, an adolescent treatment center, as an accountant. He and his wife have two married sons, Eric and wife-Jennifer, and Jason and wife-Kay. They have two adopted grandchildren from Russia, Jozy - 12 and Luke - 10. They have also been licensed Foster Parents working with teenage children.

Steven Selvick

Steven joined the Sturgeon Bay Breakfast Rotary Club in July of 1996. Since that time he has served on the international committee and youth exchange committee within his club.  He became the Club President in 2005-2006 and now serves as one of the current Directors.  At the District level, he served as the Outbound Coordinator for the Rotary Youth Exchange program from 2000 to 2002 and then served as the District Chairman from 2002-2008. He served as the business manager and conference chairman for the youth exchange program 2008-2009.  He was the assistant governor for area 10 from 2007-2009. 
He held positions with the Multi-District organization known as Central States Rotary Youth Exchange Program, Inc as the Co-Summer Conference Chair for 2003 and the Summer Conference Chair from 2004 to 2010 along with being the Outbound Coordinator from 2008 to 2010. With his wife Theresa, they have hosted nineteen exchange students from the summer and long term programs of Rotary Youth Exchange.    
Steven is a founding member of the Paul Harris Society in his District.  Steven and his wife, Theresa, are both members of the Bequest Society.  He has campaigned heavily for both the Etta Project and the Shelter Box Project over the past five years.
Steven is the owner and president of three separate corporate entities, Door County Insurance Agency, Inc. (1983); Mastercare Enterprises, Inc., a commercial janitorial cleaning and supply company including a carpet cleaning service (1987) and Selvick Insurance Agency, LLC (2004).  He is a specialized insurance broker primarily writing admiralty risks in six states. Steven is a member of the Propeller Club of the Port of Chicago and the Door County Home Builders Association.
He is a member of the Green Bay Area Chamber of Commerce and the Sturgeon Bay Visitor and Convention Bureau.  He is a board member of the Third Ave Playhouse and a strong patron of the arts in his community. He has served many years on the Board of Directors for the Sunshine House, Inc., a non-profit organization for special needs persons and continues to donate his time and company’s services.  Steven has written and performed numerous Christmas concerts in the past for the elderly and handicapped citizens in Door County. 
Steven served in the United States Marine Corp from 1975 to 1978. He has two children, Stephanie who is attending the University of Miami getting her doctorate degree in English Literature and Carl who is attending the University of Wisconsin - Madison in the Pharmacy program.
Steven enjoys traveling, singing, musical theater, entertaining at their home and spending quite time by his pond and enjoying his Koi Fish.

Kristin
Duckart

Kristin joined the Rotary Club of Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin USA in 1997, but it was in the fall of 2002 that she experienced what it truly means to be a Rotarian. With a passion for making a difference in the lives of others, Kristin signed up to participate in polio eradication efforts in West Africa. While traveling to Kano, Nigeria as part of a NID team, she learned first hand the significance of Rotary. Kristin returned to Nigeria in 2006 as a member of the Nigerian Volunteer Service Group. In 2000, she joined Rotaplast International as a team member traveling to Oaxaca, Mexico to provide free reconstructive surgeries to individuals suffering from cleft lip and palate anomalies.
Kristin has served as her club’s YEO and has hosted five International Youth Exchange Students over the past several years. She served as Club Secretary in 2006 and Club President in 2008 and currently serves as Rotary Foundation President for Wisconsin Rapids. She is a two time Paul Harris Fellow.
As the Executive Director for Saint Michael’s Foundation, whose mission is to support the underserved, Kristin has assisted many non- profit organizations over her career. She has served as a board member of the Portage County Literacy Council, the Mid-State Technical College Foundation, United Way, Junior Achievement, and the Arts Council.
After growing up in Spooner, WI, Kristin moved to Minneapolis, MN, where she attended the University of Minnesota. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication and is near completion of her Master’s degree from UW-Stevens Point. Her research examines the importance of health literacy in positive health outcomes.
She resides in Wisconsin Rapids, WI with her two sons Erik and Jon. Kristin is an avid cross country skier, kayaker, and all around adventurist. She enjoys reading, hiking, scuba and skydiving….but most of all, she enjoys Rotary.

Paul Decker

Paul and his wife Dr. Paula Decker live in Hartland, Wisconsin. Paul is a member of the Rotary Club of Hartland/Lake Country and both are proud Paul Harris Fellows. He served as club president, Assistant Governor and District Trainer. Paula is Education Director at Ethan Allen School, a state juvenile correctional facility for boys ages 12-23. Paula previously served as a Charter School Consultant for the Dept. of Public Instruction and has her doctorate in Educational Leadership.
Paul is a very rare lung cancer survivor who had his right lung and several lymph nodes removed. Paul had never smoked and displayed no tell-tale symptoms. After strenuous rehabilitation, he rebuilt his life, and in 2006 completed his Masters Degree in Organizational Development.
Paul is a sought after inspirational and business speaker lauded for his “Living and Working in the 21st Century”, and “My Next Dance” presentations.  He is principal of REsource D & Assoc., LLC, a consultant and training group for a growing list of clients in organizational development, leadership, sales, marketing and customer service. He is a part-time Instructor in Entrepreneurial Sciences at Waukesha County Technical College, and is a member of the Small Business Center Hall of Fame. He serves as a Waukesha County Board Supervisor and will run for re-election in April 2010. Paul also serves on the Plan Commission in Hartland.
Paul is on several Boards, including the American Cancer Society Midwest Division, mentors cancer patients and their families, and has testified at state and federal government hearings on health related issues. He and Paula enjoy golfing, cooking, wine collecting, flower gardening, theatre, music, Badger football games, and time with family and friends.

Don Ahrendsenl

Don was Assistant Governor 2006-2009, before that he served as a Governor’s Aide for 7 Governors from 1981-1988. He has also served on the District Polio-plus and the District Extension committees. He was appointed the Governor’s Representative for the formation of the Ottawa Sunrise Rotary in 1989
He joined the Ottawa Rotary Club in 1976 and has been President, Secretary, Treasurer, Bulletin Editor and various other committee chairs.
Don served three years with the Army 3rd Infantry, 2 years in Germany. He attended Iowa State University and graduated from the College of Veterinary Medicine in 1966, practiced in Ottawa full time till selling the Fox Valley Veterinary Hospital in 2004, where he still works on a part time basis.
Don has been a member of the Chamber of Commerce for 8 years serving as chairman 1 year, and is also involved with Animal Disaster Response. He is a member of IVERT (Illinois Veterinary Emergency Response Team) and LaSCART (LaSalle County Animal Response Team.)
His hobbies involve many outdoor activities, the primary one trying to outsmart Alaskan salmon and trout.
Don and his wife, Bonnie are a Paul Harris Fellows. They are the parents of 2 children and 6 grandchildren.

Bruce Baumberger

Bruce Baumberger has been a member of the Rotary Club of Evanston Lighthouse since 1986.  He served as the club president, club service chair, secretary, and club communications coordinator.  He has achieved a sixteen-year record of perfect attendance and was Rotarian of the Year in 1990 and 2002.   His leadership in the introduction of technology-based administrative and communications tools for his club led to his technology leadership for District 6440.  At the district level, Bruce has served as an Assistant Governor and Communications Coordinator.  In that role he provided the leadership for the majority of District 6440 clubs to adopt the use of ClubRunner for their club websites and administrative communications.  He was recognized with a District 6440 Governor’s Award in 2006.  Bruce has a particular affinity for international projects of Rotary. Over the years, he and his wife, Nancy, have been involved in hosting visiting GSE teams and international visitors participating in Rotary programs. Bruce has also traveled internationally to help oversee and initiate new humanitarian projects.  Bruce is a multiple Paul Harris Fellow and is a charter member of the District 6440 Paul Harris Society.
Bruce’s business experience includes 33 years in a variety of technical and management positions in the Information Technology Department at the corporate headquarters of Allstate Insurance.  He had major responsibility for the planning and implementation of knowledge worker productivity technology, including email and publishing facilities on a corporate-wide basis.  Bruce currently operates a referral-based computer consulting firm that specializes in supporting small businesses and individuals.  The firm’s services cover the full spectrum of information technology support ranging from needs analysis through implementation and end-user training. Bruce was the Director of Communications for GUIDE International, an independent, volunteer run association providing IBM customers with user focused education, professional networking, and industry influence.  He also has a long record of involvement with community and political organizations in Evanston, currently serving as a Trustee Emeritus of the Evanston Fourth of July Association.  Bruce received his degree in accounting from Northwestern University. 
Nancy, a retired registered nurse, is a Paul Harris Fellow.  She and Bruce were married in 1965 and have two children and four grandchildren

Robb Knuepfer

Robb Knuepfer joined the Rotary Club of Chicago more than 25 years ago in 1982, shortly after he left the U.S. Attorneys Office - where he served as a criminal prosecutor - and then joined the international law firm of Baker & McKenzie - where he is a partner in their corporate practice group. Robb became aChes Perry Fellow of the Rotary/One Foundation in 1989, and had the honor of serving as Centennial President of Rotary/One for the 100th Anniversary of Rotary in 2005. Coincidentally, his law firm was
founded in Chicago in 1949, and today is the world’s largest law firm with more than 4,000 lawyers practicing in 70 offices in 30 countries.
In 1992, he moved to Budapest, Hungary to establish his firm’s Central Europe and Russian offices. While in Hungary, he founded the Budapest City Rotary Club in 1993, which was one of the first Rotary clubs established behind what was formerly the “Iron Curtain”. He was elected the first president of that club. He returned to Chicago and Rotary/One in 1995, and is currently the 6450 District Governor Nominee for 2010-2011.
He has served as an Assistant Governor for our District, as well as Club Service Chair for District 6450. He is Chair of Job 1, a vocational service project in our District. He is also Chair of the Paul & Jean Harris Home Foundation, which is raising funds to restore our Founder’s Home, also known as “Comely Bank”, to its original condition. Robb is a 4 time Paul Harris Fellow, a Paul Harris Society Charter Member, and a Rotary International Bequest Society member. He is also a member of the Room 711 Club.
In addition to his Rotary commitments, Robb has a distinguished record of public service in government and in the private sector and currently serves on the board of directors of the Adler Planetarium, Metropolitan Family Services, and the Executive Breakfast Club of Oak Brook. He has also served as Chairman of ATO Foundation, founder of the Leader Shape Institute, and is active in the Hinsdale
Community House and Boy Scouts of America, to name a few. He teaches at both the Law School and the Business School at   Northwestern University.
Robb has been married to childhood sweetheart, Nancy, for 30 years, and they have four children, Rob, Jenny, Lauren and Joe.
Like Paul Harris, Robb is a lawyer. And like Paul Harris, Robb has devoted his life to community service. In fact, his birthday, February 23, is the same date Rotary was founded - February 23, 1905.

Timothy Knaggs

Tim joined the Rotary Club of Cadillac, Michigan USA in 1990.  He has served as an Assistant District Governor since 2006.  Tim is currently serving as the Coordinator of the District Vision Facilitation Team.  To date, this team has helped 15 clubs throughout the District develop strategic plans for their clubs’ growth and success.
Tim enjoyed being the Exchange Youth Officer for his club for 10 years.  During this time the club had an average of four inbound and outbound students per year.  In 1998 Tim joined the club board and became president in 2001. 
After attending Ferris State University, Tim and Sue moved to Cadillac where they have lived for the past 34 years.  They have three children.  After having worked in public education for 20 years, Tim established two independent insurance agencies and continues to operate them today.  Tim looks forward to the opportunity to serve the District in a leadership role and help Rotarians meet the Rotary service challenges in our world.

Eileen Jennings

 

Eileen Jennings has been the General Counsel at Central Michigan University since 1983.  She is currently a member of the NCAA Division I Committee on Infractions.  In her community, Eileen has served on the board of directors of the local hospital and its home health care organization and United Way.  She was a founding member and first president of Hospice of Central Michigan.  She joined the Mt. Pleasant Rotary Club in 1990 and has served as president, assistant governor and chair of the district grants committee.  Her special Rotary interest is Ambassadorial Scholars.

Don Frohm

Don joined the Rotary Club of Jackson Noon in 1984. Serving on several of the clubs committee’s and also served as project chairman. One such committee he chaired for 6 years was the clubs largest fund raising project, “The Rotary Tram Project at Michigan International Speedway at Brooklyn Michigan.
Serving multiple club board terms including Club President in 2001-2001. Don also served multiple board terms on the Rotary Foundation of Jackson County including Foundation President. Don also served multiple board terms on the disAbility Connections, Inc., a 501C3 Non-Profit Corporation founded over 75 years ago by the Rotary Club of Jackson Noon Club.
Don continues to be an active member of the Noon Rotary Club as well as being active at the district level serving as an Assistant District Governor.
Don is a Paul Harris Fellow and continues to support the RI Foundation thru the every member, every year program of the Rotary International Foundation.
Serving with the United States Navy from 1963 to 1969 of which most of this time was with the Navy’s Mobile Construction (Seabee) Battalion Eight. During this period Don served a 9 month combat tour with MCB-8 stationed near DaNang, RVN.
Returning from military service Don worked in commercial banking. A 19 year employee of Consumers Power Company, A large combination Gas and Electric Utility, where he held positions of increasing responsibility. He changed careers in order to spend more time with family and retired in August of 2006 after spending 20 years as a licensed commercial insurance sales executive in Jackson, Mi.
Don has been active in many other local community organizations including serving board terms with several of these local not for profit agencies. He continues to serve on the board of a local not for profit organization that provides housing, care and treatment for mentally challenged adults..
Don is an alumnus of Macomb County Community College and Central Michigan University. Don and His wife Ann Marie have three adult children and are the proud grandparents of 6 grandchildren.

Janet McPeek

Janet McPeek, Ph.D. has been active in local Rotary Clubs since 1996 when she accepted an invitation to join the Oxford Club. There she served as Vocational Chair and later became Club President in 2004-2005. Last year, Janet became a charter member of the newly-formed Lake Orion Sunrise Rotary Club. Throughout, she has been involved with numerous community service projects, including mentoring high school students in the STRIVE program. Janet is in her third year as a Rotary Club Assistant Governor at the District level. She is a member of the Finance Committee and the team working to bring the Vision Facilitation process to Clubs in the District.
Janet is a licensed psychologist who earned her doctoral degree in clinical and educational psychology from Wayne State University. She has masters’ degrees in education and psychology and professional experience in both education and human service settings. In 1995, Janet was named President of Crossroads for Youth, a non-profit agency in Oxford that provides counseling, education and support for at-risk children and youth. She also maintains a part-time private practice working primarily with adults and older teens.
Janet is well-known in her church and the community. She is chair of the Oakland County Wraparound Steering Committee and current President of the Board of Directors of Leadership Oakland, Board of Advisors of POH/Oxford and Advisory Board of the Oakland University Paralegal Program. Janet frequently speaks to community groups about her work at Crossroads for Youth and on topics that impact children and teens.
Janet and her husband, Phil, have three adult children. In her spare time, Janet enjoys concerts, reading, golf and traveling. She and Phil live in a restored historic home in Lake Orion, which means there will be never-ending opportunities to work on the house, toil in the yard and shop for antiques.

Kim Towar

Kim Towar is a proud member of the Rotary Club of Grosse Pointe, Michigan. She has served her club since 1992 in numerous capacities and was honored as Rotarian of the year for 2 consecutive years.
As a strong community advocate, Kim serves on several boards and committees including; the advisory board to Henry Ford Health Systems and as a board member for Gilda’s East Cancer support centers.
On the international level, Kim and Rotarian daughter Brandi have played an active role in the “Children of the Dump” committee, traveling to Nicaragua, aiding in fund-raising concerts and assisting in producing videos and collateral materials for the project. Kim and honorary Rotarian husband Dave have hosted five youth exchange students.
Kim owns a respected publishing company and devotes a great deal of the company resources to further the great work of Rotary. She has published the District Digest for 6 years and continues to offer design and print services to Rotarians.
Kim is happily married to her best friend, Dave Colton. They share a love for their four grown children (and their youth exchange children), four grandchildren, two dogs, boating, golfing, and striving to make the world a little better place. Both are Paul Harris Fellows and Bequest Society members.

Dave Dayne

Dave Dayne and his wife, Carol of 40 years, have resided in Galion since 1972 when Dave accepted a position with the Galion Police Department. Dave retired in 1994 at the rank of Lieutenant. He soon felt the need to continue to serve his community. In the ensuing years, Dave was elected and served a term on Galion City Council, served as President and CEO of the Galion Area Chamber of Commerce, Chair of the Galion Civil Service Commission and President of the Crawford County Regional Planning Commission. Dave currently serves on the board of the Crawford County Crippled Children and Adult Society and is a member of the Galion Area Betterment Commission. Dave is an agent representing United First Financial.
Mr. Dayne graduated from Libbey High School in Toledo and attended Liberty University; Lynchburg, Va. Dave served in the United States Air Force, US Army and was active in Ohio’s State Defense Forces retiring at the rank of Colonel.
In 1996, Dave was invited to join Rotary and served as president 1997-98 and again in 2006-07. He brought to the club the July 4 Fireworks project and has served on various club committees. Dave is a Paul Harris Fellow and member of the Paul Harris Society. He currently serves as a District 6600 Assistant Governor and member of the Executive Committee.
Dave’s wife Carol, also a Rotarian, is the Administrative Secretary for the City of Galion City Manager.
Dave and Carol have one son Mike who works in the defense industry.

Stew Buchanan

Stew Buchanan was born in Greensburg, Pennsylvania and moved to northeast Ohio when he was 10. His parents owned cottages on Lake Erie and Stew and his siblings helped with the maintenance and clean up during the summer. Stew remains committed to this area by still having a cottage on his old homestead. His children and grandchildren enjoy the summer months there and he has been known to still water ski on Lake Erie!
He graduated from Madison High School in 1954 where he participated in band, choir, track, football, baseball and basketball. This was the beginning of his total involvement in the things going on around him and his life long passion for sports. His passion for doing his best in everything he tries is reflected in the fact he was salutatorian of his high school class.
Stew received his BA from Wittenberg University in 1958 and spent the next 50 years pursuing his love of numbers. He started his career with The Arthur Anderson Accounting firm. He was the first graduate from Wittenberg ever hired by The Arthur Anderson Accounting Firm. He received his certified public accounting (CPA) license in 1960 and has continued in public accounting ever since. Currently Stew is semi retired and has decreased the work hours to enjoy other aspects of his life. He still remains available to his clients and keeps his CPA license current even through retirement.
His involvement in Rotary has been over a period of 25 years including club president for 3 years,  a Paul Harris fellow, chairman of fund raising, international students, treasurer, and many other responsibilities. At the district level he has served as District secretary for 2 ½ years, chairman of the Finance committee, conference committee member 3 years and secretary one year. He has also served on the All Ohio Pets Steering committee for two years. He has attended three international conferences and comes away renewed in his belief about all of the good done by Rotarians all over the world. 
Stew has been active in his community his entire life. He was a Municipal Judge in Indiana, referee for high school sporting events, president of Wittenberg Senate, president of Kiwanis, a volunteer fireman in Eastlake , Ohio, a volunteer at the NEC World Series of Golf, and member and officer in the Wahoo Club and the Rebounders ( booster clubs for the professional sports teams) to name a few of his activities. He continues his volunteer efforts by being the treasurer for his church.
Stew has four children—Leslie, Lindley, Michelle and Misti and a stepson Todd Morgan. He is also the proud grandfather of Brandon, Jordan, Tyler, Rylee, Joe, Jack and Genevieve.
Stew and his wife Cheryl have been married 25 years. She is a registered nurse and currently is an assistant professor at the University of Akron. Stew and Cheryl enjoy sporting events, grandkids and Rotary!

Jim Russell

Jim Russell has been a member of the Rotary Club of Newcomerstown, Ohio U.S.A. since October 1997. He has served twice as Club President and has chaired Club Service and International Service committees. He continues to serve as Foundation Chair and takes responsibility for the club’s web site. Jim is a Paul Harris Fellow and a Paul Harris Sustaining Member.
Jim has served Rotary District 6650 as Assistant Governor (2002 –04), RYLA Facilitator (9 years), Health & Hunger Chair (2007-09), and District Trainer (2008-09). He participated on the most recent All Ohio PETS Steering Committee and served as a member of the All Ohio PETS Training Team.
Jim holds a BS in Business Management from Franklin University. He is a Vietnam Era Veteran having served in the U.S. Navy from 1969 – 1975. His professional life includes a twenty-four year career with Hewlett Packard Company where he held executive positions in Customer Service and Customer Services Sales. After leaving HP, Jim owned ACTUP Inc and leadersville.com. Both companies focused on leadership and leadership development. He is currently retired.
His wife, Linda holds a BS in Education from the Ohio State University. She teaches children with special needs at Newcomerstown West Elementary School. She is currently pursuing certification as Teacher of the Visually Impaired. Linda received recognition for 25 years of service to the American Red Cross. She is a lifetime member of Girl Scouts USA and was employed as a Girl Scout Professional for six years.
Jim and Linda have two daughters, Becky and Amy. Becky graduated from Muskingum College with a degree in Geology and Environmental Science and was employed as an Environmental Consultant. She is currently a full-time mother to Ryan and Asher and lives with her husband, Ed, near Columbus. Amy graduated from the University of Akron with a degree in Social Work. She is currently a licensed Social Worker employed by the Summit County Courts as a Child Advocate.
Jim and Linda reside on the farm where Jim spent his childhood. Most leisure time is spent caring for a few livestock and the buildings and grounds. Spending time with family and entertaining grandchildren are especially valued activities.

Jeff Krans

Jeff and Diane Krans have been a Rotary family since 1981, when Jeff joined the Penn Yan Rotary Club. Diane joined the Bath Rotary Club in 2003 and is currently a member of the Northern Lake George Rotary Club in District 7190. Their children, Kimberly and Jacob were both active in the Penn Yan Interact Club when they were in High School. Over the years, Jeff and Diane have hosted half a dozen exchange students, they have enjoyed hosting visiting Governor Elects in the Milt Matthews program and their daughter visited Austria in a Rotary summer exchange.
Jeff was the sponsoring Rotarian Committee Chair for both the Penn Yan Interact in 1990 and the Keuka College Rotaract in 2004. Long term relationships with so many talented young people have created lasting memories.
Jeff and Diane worked with a group of District 7120 Rotarians to create the District Oratorical Contest on ethics. They supported the RYLA program for well over 10 years. Jeff is currently serving out his third year as an Assistant Governor for Area # VII and will continue those duties with his DGN duties in 2008/2009.
Jeff has been recognised by the Penn Yan Club twice as Rotarian of the Year. He was awarded the Four Avenues of Service Award and honored with a Paul Harris award. He has served the Penn Yan club as President and Secretary in addition to advising the Interact and Rotaract Clubs.
Jeff and Diane both are working on becoming multiple Paul Harris Fellows and both are Benefactors of the Rotary Foundation.

Paul Scott

Paul Scott (PJ) recently retired as the Editor and Publisher of The Palladium-Times, Oswego, New York. He held similar positions in Michigan and New York. Previously he worked as Overseas Product Manager and Industrial Engineer Oneida Ltd., in Canada, Northern Ireland, England, Japan, Korea, Taiwan and Hong Kong.
PJ attended Canton ATI, St Lawrence University and Syracuse University and served in the United States Air Force. He joined Oswego NY Rotary in 2003 and is currently a member of the Eastwood (Syracuse,
NY) Rotary. PJ and his wife, Gladys are Major Donors to The Rotary Foundation and are Bequest Society members.
PJ was Club President in 2006-07 and will be D-7150 District Governor in 2010-11. He serves as the District Information Chair for The Rotary Foundation and serves as the District Chair for Rotary Leadership Institute.
He was instrumental in forming the districts first Rotaract Club at SUNY Oswego. Locally, he serves on the
executive board of the United Way of Greater Oswego County and is a member of Central NY PGA.
PJ and Gladys have two daughters, a son and three granddaughters. Lindsey a graduate of SUNY Oswego and the University of Rochester, NY (MFA) is employed with Grand Circle Travel, Boston MA; Andrea a graduate of Clemson University is employed with Orange County (FL) Board of Education (Andrea and her husbandMark Austing, live in Orlando FL); and Paul (PJ) a graduate of the University of Rochester as is his wife,Stacey, is employed by Anthem BCBS, Denver CO (PJ and Stacey and their daughters Natalie, Cammie andJenna live in Highlands Ranch, CO).

Orville Wright

Orville (Orv) Wright joined the Owego Rotary Club in 2001 after retiring from IBM/Lockheed Martin.   He served as their president in 2005-2006 and is presently their secretary.  On a district level, Orv has served as an assistant governor and for the past three years has been the Coordinator for Water Projects for District 7170.
He was raised in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy and served in the Navy for 23 years as a helicopter engineering test pilot and anti-submarine warfare specialist.  Orv worked for IBM/Lockheed Martin Owego in management positions including the supervision of their flight test program of the Royal Navy EH-101 Merlin helicopter for five years in England.
Orv has been married to Carolyn (District 7170’s Interact Chair and member of the Owego Rotary Club) for 25 years, and they have six children.  In his spare time he works as a tax counselor for senior citizens, teaches classes in job interviewing skills and money management to disadvantaged youths, plays United States Tennis Association competitive tennis and periodically performs charitable musical comedy shows.

Daniel Stec

My name is Daniel J. Stec and my partner's name is Susan B. Stec. I have been a Rotarian for twenty two years.
I have been employed by St. Clare's Hospital for forty six years as a Senior Medical Technologist. Currently the hospital is in merger negotiations with another area hospital, Ellis Hospital. Both hospitals are located in Schenectady, New York. I am a graduate of Hudson Valley Community College with an AAS degree in Medical Technology. It was an honor for me to serve in the Boy Scouts of America as a Cub Master for five years and as a Scout Master for two years. I also served as an Assistant Council Commissioner for six years. I am the recipient of the Arrow Head award, the Scouters Key for Commissioners, and the Woodbadge Award.
Within Rotary I have served on many committees in the club and at the district level. I served as Club President for two terms. At the District level I've served on the Grants Committee in the 80's and also as Assistant Governor for three terms. I am also involved in my church, St. Joseph's Catholic Church, in Scotia, NY in several positions and committees.
I would like to be able to finish the year and say that the district and its members accomplished what they set out to do to the best of their ability. I would love to solve problems like hunger, thirst, disease, and shelter, and know that together we can accomplish these tasks. That's why I love Rotary. Working together we can help to solve the problems of our world by planting the seeds of change in the world. My goal is to promote the clubs in our District to work with other clubs in the area and throughout the world to make the world a better place to live.

Chris Fiely

Christopher R. Fiely is the Boomer’s Supervisor for Metz and Associates, Ltd. at the University of Pittsburgh at Titusville, which is the casual dining establishment in the University’s Student Union. Chris is also the General Manager of the Caboose Motel in Titusville, where he has worked since June 2005.
A fifth generation Titusvillian, Chris graduated Titusville High School in 1991 and earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Mercyhurst College in Erie, PA, in Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Management in 1995.
Chris joined the Titusville Rotary club during its 75th anniversary celebration on February 2, 1997. He has served on his club’s board since 1999 and as the club’s president in 2003-04. Chris currently serves as the Titusville Club’s Foundation Chair. He continues to spearhead the annual summer Rotary Steak Fry and volunteers for other club committees. He has been a tour guide to many of the visiting Group Study Exchange teams, showing them popular places like Drake Well, where oil was discovered, and Heisman Field, where John Heisman learned to play football as a kid.
Chris has served as Assistant Governor for Division IV in District 7280. He also has served on the District’s Alumni Committee. In 2005, he attended Rotary International’s Centennial Celebration in Chicago, Illinois. Chris authored a mealtime prayer that encompasses The Four Way Test and is a Paul Harris Fellow.
Chris has assisted in starting and reopening several restaurants. He was the Food Service Director at the Erie City Mission and was the New Age Beverage Manager and Assistant Manager at McGregor Beverage until its closing.
Chris is very active in the Titusville community serving as a Past Exalted Ruler of the Benevolent and Protective Order of ELKS Titusville Lodge #264, Past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Titusville Council #492, and Past Faithful Comptroller for the 4th Degree Assembly #0965 in Franklin. He is also a member of other social and fraternal organizations.
Chris currently serves as President of the Titusville Renaissance, Inc., which is focused on downtown revitalization and economic development.  In addition he is a member of the Take Pride in Titusville Committee, Oil Festival Committee and Oil 150 Celebration Committee for 2009. He is also a charter member of the University of Pittsburgh at Titusville Alumni Association and a volunteer for the Titusville Alumni Association, Titusville Area Chamber of Commerce, Titusville Area Health Foundation and St. Titus Church. Chris is also Titusville’s Santa Claus (shh).

Cindy Sakala

Cindy Sakala was invited to join the Burrell Area Rotary Club in 1996 by her friend and insurance agent Ed Panichelle, who said it would be good for business.  Cindy soon became “hooked” on Rotary, progressing from a helper to international service chairperson in the club and club President in 2000-01.  She has a special place in her heart for the poor of Nicaragua and the Burrell Area Rotary Club has partnered with other clubs in the district to work on a water well drilling project in that country.  Cindy especially enjoys the fellowship with Rotarians at her home club, throughout District 7300 and in her international travels.
Cindy has been involved in the District 7300 Katrina relief effort, has been a counselor to Youth Exchange students, helps with the Group Study Exchange team, and has been an Assistant Governor.  She is currently is serving as District Secretary under Jim Kunkelmann. 
As a returning adult student, Cindy earned her BS in Business Management from the University of Pittsburgh in 1992 (summa cum laude).  That same year she and husband Paul started Sakala Stone Products, a company to produce and install Handcrafted Stone veneer products for the construction and remodeling industry.   Cindy especially enjoys the flexibility and quality lifestyle that having a home-based business affords.
Cindy and Paul reside in Lower Burrell with their daughter Allison, who is a nursing student.  They live on a 35 acre farm in a remodeled 160 year old farmhouse and enjoy working in their large gardens growing strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, apples and vegetables.  As Catholic Christians, Cindy and Paul find that Rotary provides a way to express their love and compassion for their fellow man in a tangible way.  Cindy's hobbies include quilting and making jams and pies from the plentiful fruit.
During the coming years, Cindy looks forward to meeting the wonderful Rotarians that make up District 7300 and helping them to grow and prosper in fulfilling the objects of Rotary by serving their communities and the world.

Walter Olshanski

A Rotarian since 1995, Walter has been active in his club and at the District level. He served as president in 1998-99 of the newly reorganized Canonsburg Houston Club and is a Paul Harris Fellow. He has completed his fourth term as Assistant Governor and is serving on the district leadership development committee. Walter encouraged club district participation and helped facilitate joint club activities to support Rotary matching grants, public relations, and rotary fellowship during his term as assistant governor.
A graduate of Geneva College Walter entered the insurance business and is the owner of a multi-line insurance and financial products agency located in Imperial, Pennsylvania. Walter served in the US army and is veteran of the Vietnam conflict. He is a member of the Independent Insurance Agent Association and the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors and served as State president in1999-98. The National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors awarded Walter the “2008 Keystone Award” given annually to a member who has provided years of service to the Association and Industry. Walter served as national chair of this professional association’s National Leadership Institute. Active in his community as past board member of the United Way and president of the Merchant’s Association he is also active in his church serving as President and facilitator of St. Patrick’s RCC pastoral council.
Walter and his wife of 38 years, Paula, reside in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania and have three grown children and two grandchildren.
Walter joined Rotary because he was asked by PDG Robert Hillberry to join a club that had quit meeting but had a couple members who wished to begin anew. Soon after joining Walter realized the enormous resources available to Rotary to make a difference in the lives of those in need. Walter believes that Leadership is where it starts; where there is Leadership there is Life!

Bill Wylie

Bill Wylie, a native of Brooklyn, New York, received his degree in Business Administration from Pace University after serving in the U.S. Army from 1965 to 1968.
After working in retail for JC Penney and McCrory Corp., he became self-employed as a manufacturer of children’s wear and created a company known as G&W Industries. The company, located in Romney, has provided employment to the residents of Hampshire County WV for more than twenty years.
A member of the Rotary Club of Romney since 1995, Bill has served his club as President during the 2005-2006 Rotary year. He is a multiple Paul Harris Fellow. Bill chairs the club’s Literacy Fund which purchases library books for local schools yearly. He co-chairs the local “WARM THE CHILDREN” annual program for Hampshire County raising over $25,000 yearly to purchase new warm winter clothing for needy children. He also co-chairs the high school scholarship fund-raising effort yearly, raising $10,000 each year to be used for local high school students. Bill spearheaded the creation of the first Interact Club within Hampshire County High School.
Bill looks forward to his forthcoming year as District Governor and during that time hopes to increase District membership as well as district members' awareness that they are "The Foundation".
Bill is past president of the Romney Business and Professional Organization uniting local businesses to fulfill community needs.
Bill and his wife Fran, a retired schoolteacher/librarian, have been married for forty years. They are parents to a son, William, a Rotarian and the 2007-2008 Past President of the Romney Rotary Club. They also have two daughters, Jennifer and Elizabeth. Bill and Fran are blessed with three granddaughters and one grandson. In his leisure time, Bill enjoys reading, golfing and traveling.

Constance Wydra

Connie has been a member of the Ashland Area Rotary since May of 2002.
She has served the club as V.P. 2004~2005 - President 2005~2006
Rotary Interact Advisor 2004-Current- Chairman of the Float Committee - Chairman of the Pet Walk for Literacy Committee.
In District 7370, she is a graduate of Rotary Leadership Institute and has served as Assistant Governor to the Ashland, Frackville, Mahanoy City, Ringtown and Shenandoah Clubs.
She is a graduate of the Grand View Hospital School of Nursing and has enjoyed 30+ years working in mostly Pediatrics. Currently she is working for Ash-Tec. Inc., a Designing and Manufacturing Business owned by her son. She is currently the Treasurer of the Ashland Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Board of Directors of the North Schuylkill Chapter of Thrivent Financial, active in the church choir and past President of Church Council.
Connie and Bill have been married since Dec. 1969. Both are active Rotarians and multiple Paul Harris Fellows and firmly believe in Rotamakingry's Past, Present and Future. In her spare time she enjoys being around people, helping where she can and new friends. She believes that life is what we make it and we might as well make it FUN not only for ourselves but for others as well!
They are the proud parents of two children, Bill Jr. and Adrienne, both of which are Paul Harris Fellows and recently have been blessed with two very precious grandchildren-twin boys Cole and Mason, the apples of our eye!
